Design Engineer | Zeeland, MI

Salary Range: $72,000 - $111,000 depending on experience

We are partnering with organizations in Zeeland that are seeking Design Engineers. Key Responsibilities

• Develop and refine mechanical designs for new and existing products, components, or systems.
• Create detailed 3D CAD models, assemblies, and 2D engineering drawings according to industry standards.
• Conduct design analysis, including FEA or tolerance stack-ups, to ensure product performance and reliability.
• Collaborate with manufacturing and production teams to optimize designs for manufacturability (DFM) and assembly (DFA).
• Select appropriate materials and manufacturing processes based on design requirements, cost, and performance.
• Support the prototyping, testing, and validation of new designs, iterating as necessary based on results.
• Generate and maintain comprehensive technical documentation, including Bills of Material (BOMs) and specifications.

Recommended Qualifications

• Strong proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, Inventor) for 3D modeling and 2D drafting.
• Solid understanding of mechanical engineering principles, materials science, and stress analysis.
• Demonstrated knowledge of various manufacturing processes (e.g., machining, injection molding, welding) and Design for Manufacturability (DFM).
• Experience with prototyping, testing, and validation of mechanical designs.
• Ability to create detailed technical drawings, specifications, and Bills of Material (BOMs).

Bonus Qualifications

• Hands-on experience with manufacturing processes (e.g., machining, injection molding, welding).
• Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma methodologies.
• Experience with rapid prototyping and physical product testing.
• Proficiency in advanced simulation and analysis software (e.g., FEA, CFD).
