job summary:
An Environmental Monitor is needed for a leader in the world of Technical Services and Engineering in the Massena, NY area. This is a highly regulated field compliance role requiring specialized certifications to monitor construction sites for asbestos safety, environmental protection, and strict legal permit adherence.

responsibilities:
- Maintain active NYSDOL certifications as an Asbestos Project Monitor and Air Sampling Technician.
- Conduct Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP) inspections and generate formal reports.
- Monitor utility construction activities, including clearing, road improvements, and structure installations.
- Ensure strict compliance with federal and state environmental laws and specific permit conditions.
- Oversee protection and restoration efforts for wetlands, streams, and agricultural lands.
- Manage erosion and sediment control principles per NYS Department of Environmental Conservation standards.
- Handle spill reporting to regulatory agencies and manage hazardous waste per RCRA and DOT regulations.
- Coordinate and communicate environmental requirements clearly to contractors and multiple stakeholders.
- Supervise wire-stringing and the installation/maintenance of temporary environmental controls.
- Inspect all phases of construction to ensure full environmental protection and compliance.
Education and Experience:
- A minimum of a (4) four-year degree in Environmental science, environmental engineering, or related environmental discipline.
- A minimum of (2) two years of experience performing environmental field work and construction inspections.
