Job Description

We are excited to announce our 2026 Summer Internship program!

Our summer internship program runs from Tuesday, June 9th, to Tuesday, August 4th. The program is hybrid, with in-office work on Tuesdays and Wednesdays and remote work on Mondays, Thursdays, and Fridays. Hours are from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and we provide all necessary equipment to help you succeed in your role.

As an intern, you will work on real business projects, gaining exposure to various aspects of the company and having the opportunity to make an impact. You will also connect with Delta Dental employees across different business functions, helping you expand your professional network. Throughout the eight-week program, we’ll assist with resume and LinkedIn profile development and provide you with a LinkedIn Learning license. Interns will meet weekly to share experiences and learn from our business leaders. At the end of the program, interns will have the chance to have lunch with Delta Dental’s CEO.

Interns will be compensated at an hourly rate of $22.00.

Job Summary

The Full Stack Developer Intern will support the Strategic Decision Support and Data Services (SDS) organization in developing AI‑enabled micro apps and digital solutions that improve member, provider, and internal user experiences. The intern will work with Enterprise Reporting, Data Science, and Data Engineering teams to design and build modern full‑stack applications that integrate analytics, machine learning, and generative AI capabilities within a secure, compliant healthcare environment. This internship is ideal for students interested in full‑stack development, applied AI, and building real-world digital products in an enterprise setting.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities

  • Develop and enhance full-stack web applications supporting Data Teams.
  • Integrate AI/ML models and generative AI services into applications via secure APIs.
  • Collaborate with Data Science teams to operationalize models for inference and experimentation.
  • Build and consume RESTful APIs and backend services in accordance with enterprise standards.
  • Participate in testing, debugging, documentation, and performance optimization.
  • Support cloud-based deployment, monitoring, and logging activities.
  • Ensure solutions align with HIPAA awareness, data privacy, and security best practices.

  • AI: Model inference, prompt-based systems, generative AI APIs
  • Data: SQL or NoSQL databases
  • Cloud: GCP, Exposure to enterprise cloud platforms and CI/CD concepts
Experience/Education Required

Experience, Education, and Certifications Required

Required

  • Enrollment in an undergraduate or graduate program in Computer Science, Software Engineering, AI, or a related field.
  • Coursework or project experience with programming (Python, JavaScript).

Preferred

  • Exposure to AI/ML frameworks or cloud AI services.
  • Interest in healthcare, insurance, or data-driven platforms.
