The Public Safety Officer I plays a key role in ensuring the safety and security of patients, visitors, and staff within our healthcare facilities. This position supports a secure, welcoming environment by monitoring hospital grounds, responding to emergencies, and enforcing safety protocols. Patrol hospital entrances, units, parking areas, and grounds to deter hazards and ensure safety.
Monitor surveillance cameras, access control points, and alarm systems.
Respond to calls for assistance, providing escorts, directions, and support to staff, patients, and visitors.
Enforce safety and security policies, including weapons screening and access control.
Assist with emergency response, crowd control, and incident coordination with clinical teams.
Conduct inspections of emergency exits, equipment, and life safety systems.
Document incidents and maintain accurate activity logs.
Participate in required training—including CPR, Narcan, Stop the Bleed, and de-escalation.
Maintain professionalism, confidentiality, and respect for all individuals.
High school diploma or equivalent.
Valid driver’s license with acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) and SambaSafety risk scores.
At least 1 year of security or customer service experience required.
Must be 21 years old .
Physical ability to stand and walk for extended periods, occasionally run or climb stairs, restrain individuals as part of a team, and lift 50+ lbs.
Strong communication, decision-making, and interpersonal skills.

Salary Range: Minimum 17.37/hour - Maximum 25.00/hour. Compensation will be commensurate with equity and experience for roles of similar scope and responsibility. In cases where the range is displayed as a $0 amount, salary discussions will occur during candidate screening calls, before any subsequent compensation discussion is held between the candidate and any hiring authority.
