Job Description

Summary

Cheers to your new adventure. Join Hyatt. When you join Hyatt Regency Minneapolis, you join a global brand that celebrates individuality, empowers everyone to be their best and consistently provides unique experiences for our colleagues and guests. Part of our culture of care includes providing our guests with stress-free, affordable experiences that enhance their stay. We also care about our colleagues and provide a well-rounded benefits package to ensure you are supported from day one. You'll find support from your team by working in an environment where success is celebrated and hard work is rewarded.

The Security Supervisor is responsible for the oversight of safety and security of the hotel. This person will respond to guest and employee emergencies, complete incident reports and supervise the security staff. This person will lead and respond with care while creating and maintaining an environment that makes our guests and colleagues feel safe and secure. This person must have exceptional communication skills as well as strong guest service orientation.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Supervise and schedule the security team, including officers, patrol staff, and access control personnel—ensure staffing coverage across all shifts including nights, weekends and major events.

  • Conduct regular patrols of the property (public areas, back-of-house, loading docks, parking garage, event/convention spaces) to identify security risks, safety hazards, or policy violations.

  • Respond promptly and appropriately to security incidents (physical safety, theft, disturbance, fire alarm, medical emergency) and investigate reports, prepare incident reports, escalate as needed, and recommend corrective action.

  • Ensure compliance with local, state and federal laws, and Hyatt brand security standards. Maintain records of incidents, access logs and ensure audit readiness.

  • Coordinate with local law enforcement, fire department, and first responder agencies when needed; serve as hotel liaison in investigations or major incident responses.

  • Oversee and enforce key control, CCTV/surveillance systems, electronic access systems, and panic/duress alarms. Ensure all systems are functional and correctly monitored.

  • Develop, train and coach security staff on standard operating procedures, emergency response protocols (evacuation, lockdown, active-shooter, natural disaster), crowd management, guest relations, and Hyatt service expectations.

  • Support high-profile guest visits, conventions, and events by conducting risk assessments, deploying security staffing plans, and coordinating with event/banquet services.

  • Manage and support loss prevention initiatives: review incident patterns (e.g., theft, fraud, shrinkage), make recommendations for operational improvements, and assist with investigations and disciplinary processes.

  • Prepare daily/weekly security reports for senior leadership, including incident log summaries, risk assessments, staffing status, system/facility status, and training updates.

  • Actively contribute to the hotel’s safety culture— lead & participate in safety committees, conduct safety audits, collaborate with engineering and facilities teams to address hazards and security vulnerabilities

What you can expect:

  • Collaborative and team-driven environment with diverse industry experience

  • Health benefit eligibility at 30 days of employment

  • 401K with company match – eligible to contribute at 30 days of employment

  • Discounted room nights at over 1,000 Hyatt properties upon hire

  • Free room nights at over 1,000 Hyatt properties at 90 days of employment

  • Education Assistance/Tuition Reimbursement

  • Discounted employee parking ($5/day or $100/mo)

  • Access to hotel gym (25,000 sq. ft.)

  • Free meals in colleague cafeteria

  • Discounted food & beverage from Prairie Kitchen and Bar and The Market (proudly serving Starbucks)

  • Paid Time Off including Vacation, Sick Time, Holidays (eligibility and amount dependent on employment status)

  • Annual performance-based increases

All qualified candidates will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability or protected veteran status
