Job Description

We are looking for a Metadata Music Coordinator for a top media & entertainment company hybrid out of their Burbank, CA offices! As part of The Company Music Group, A&R Administration is a division of Administration and Operations, and its top-level responsibilities are: tracking costs on Recording Projects, forecasting A&R spend for finance, collection and entry of label copy and assets based on Production schedule deadlines, artwork proofing/editing, and ensuring compliance with the AFM and AFTRA Collective Bargaining Agreements. This includes daily interaction with the following departments: A&R, Business Affairs, Production, Licensing, Music Publishing, Finance, Sales/Digital, Music Royalties, Labor Relations, Marketing, Promotions and International. Position Role: The Metadata Coordinator is responsible for obtaining, inputting and updating metadata in The Company Music Group’s in house repertoire management database, in a timely manner to meet deadlines set by The Company Music Group Production Schedule. Additional tasks include proofing of artwork, creating and submitting Licensing ISRCs, updating contributor royalty-bearing statuses as directed, researching Publishing information and other third-party obligations, as well as notifying the relevant parties when metadata is ready for review and transmission to The Company’s Music Group distribution partners.Special Projects: in this role, the Metadata Coordinator will primarily be focused on several key initiatives, including but not limited to the following: inputting and/or updating/correcting catalog releases, using a variety of information sources, including physical product, internal production reports and online sources; inputting sound recording information from various audio-visual programs for neighboring rights collections; researching and cleansing missing or incomplete/incorrect metadata on past entries in preparation for a database migration; performing a data migration reconciliation between two databases to ensure correct alignment. They will be expected to complete a minimum number of tasks per week, and performance will be measured against those metrics.
  • Pay rate: $28.00-$32.00/hr based on experience
Responsibilities:
  • Translate label copy information as received by A&R and other parties into Metadata and populate repertoire system according to the Production Schedule deadlines – for both Frontline and Catalog releases.
  • Partner with the Senior Manager to confirm all relevant and necessary data points are being captured.
  • Attend weekly Production Meetings.
  • Proofing of artwork from Production and providing corrections/guidance.
  • Finalize and distribute Label Copy on all new releases (frontline and catalog).
  • Researching and verifying Publishing information/ownership on Catalog releases.
  • Inputting updates into repertoire system as necessary by request from Music Royalties.
  • Issuing Audio ISRCs by request from Licensing.
  • Researching and cleansing older Products and issues.
  • Entering new Sound Recordings derived from various audio-visual productions.
  • Inputting catalog releases for historical tracking.
  • Auditing data migration between two databases.
  • Develop knowledge of The Company Music Group releases.
  • Develop collaborative relationships with stakeholders across the company.
Required Qualifications:

The following characteristics are essential in this role: attention to detail, organization, recording and music publishing industry and label copy knowledge, resourcefulness in locating information, strong interpersonal skills, intense focus, and clear, concise communication. The ability to retain institutional knowledge is also crucial towards managing a very high and ever-increasing volume.
  • Must have a minimum of 2 years of Recorded Music and Music Publishing Industry and Label Copy experience
  • Basic office administrative skills, including efficient typing (email, phones)
  • Proficient in MSOffice
  • 2+ years of database management
  • Attention to detail
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Resourcefulness in research tools
  • Ability to develop and maintain collaborative relationships
  • Clear and concise communication skills
  • Ability to work under tight deadlines
  • Neighboring Rights experience highly preferred
