Job Title: Sheet Metal Technician

Job Description

Join the Capital Planning & Facilities team with a mission to create, maintain, and preserve a functional and sustainable campus. As a Sheet Metal Technician, you will be responsible for installing and maintaining sheet metal across the campus, focusing primarily on hand railings, and other areas that might require sheet metal installation or fabrication.

Responsibilities

• Perform metal repairs on mobile or stationary equipment.
• Trim, file, grind, deburr, buff, and smooth surfaces, seams, and joints of assembled parts using hand tools and portable power tools.
• Install door hinges, panic bars, thresholds, motorized projector screens and mounts, and toilet partitions.
• Maintain kitchen equipment, roof gutters, and overhead doors.
• Install and repair roofing and flashing materials.
• Drill and punch holes in metal for screws, bolts, and rivets.
• Fasten seams and joints together with welds, bolts, cements, rivets, solders, caulks, metal drive clips, and bonds to assemble components into products or repair sheet metal items.

Essential Skills

• Proficiency in sheet metal work.
• Experience with MIG/TIG welding for at least 2 years.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints.
• Experience with roofing and rooftop installations, specifically TPO Roofing.

Work Environment

The work environment is based out of a Fabrication Shop. This role requires the ability to remain stationary and ascend/descend ladders/stairs frequently. The individual must be capable of working during inclement weather when emergencies require maintenance.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Bloomington, IN.

The pay range for this position is $28.60 - $32.00/hr.
